UCSD Team Camp - Top 10 performers

While most of the collective attention of the high school basketball universe was focused on the Section 7 Team Camp, UC San Diego assembled a quality collection of local and out-of-area teams at the first of two Triton Team Camps.

The camp gave teams not invited to the Arizona event a chance to play in front of the Tritons staff and take home hardware in four divisions, as well as varsity, JV and freshman showcase divisions.

Mountain View of Colorado claimed the championship of the top bracket, the "Triton" bracket, with a win over San Marcos, which had gone undefeated until the final game. Rancho Buena Vista shook off a Friday loss to Del Norte to win 4 straight games and claim the Navy Bracket championship over Cathedral Catholic. San Diego won three straight games to claim the third division title, the Gold Bracket, over Trabuco Hills. And Francis Parker claimed the final bracket championship over Basic High (NV) in the White Bracket.

Bishop's finished 5-1 in the showcase division, with its lone loss coming against undefeated Colorado Academy.

In this report, I'll talk about the top 10 San Diego performers and also mention some out of area players who caught my eye.

CJ Aldrich, 6-0 2026 G, Rancho Buena Vista

Aldrich (pictured) was flat-out dominant this weekend, scoring from all three levels to lead the Longhorns to a 5-1 showing. He's grown and gotten stronger since last season, and you could see it in his improved ability to finish through contact, which complements the rest of his scoring repertoire nicely. While his team relies on him to first score the ball, Aldrich made several plays out of pick and roll that suggest that he can also be a great playmaker at the next level. But his strength is his shot making, and he is as gifted a shot maker as we have in San Diego.
