One of the biggest stories of the 2024-25 season was Francis Parker's ascent to the Open Division playoffs for the first time in five years, despite not having the services of key transfer Ezekiel Walker for the entire season.
At the center of Parker's ascent was Tavid Johnson, who followed up his banner freshman year with an even better sophomore campaign, averaging 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game, but beyond the statistics, was often the best player on the floor regardless of who was lining up on the other side.
The 6-3 guard was named MVP of the Governor's Division of the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic, first team All Coastal League for the second time and, most recently, was named to the All San Diego Section 1st Team.
For those reasons, Johnson is the Full-Time Hoops Sophomore of the Year.
Here's the rest of the All-Sophomore team
First Team
Richie Ramirez, 6-2 G, San Marcos

Ramirez, who averaged 16.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, was dominant in Year 2, earning All Palomar League 1st Team honors - narrowly missing out on Player of the Year to his teammates, Jalen Williams - and helping lead the Knights to the Open Division playoffs.
Tristan Anderson, 5-9 G, Olympian

The diminutive and dynamic combo guard led the Eagles to their second straight CIF title, winning the Division 2 crown a year after winning Division 3. Anderson was named to the All CIF 2nd Team and the All Mesa League 1st Team after averaging a team-high 17.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 steals and an absurd 4.1 steals per contest.
Jerry Stokes, 5-9 G, Bonita Vista

The explosive scoring point guard took a big leap during year two, nearly doubling his scoring average from 8 points to 15.3 per contest, along with 2.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. Stokes was named to the All South Bay League 1st Team alongside his teammate and player of the year, Aaron Owens, as the duo led the Barons to an undefeated run and a top-4 seed in the Division 2 playoffs.
Paisios Polamalu, 5-11 G, St. Augustine

Polamalu emerged as the Saints fourth leading scorer at 9.1 points per game and one of the section's best two-way guards, earning All Western League second team honors for the Division 1 champions.
Lamar Smith, 6-4 WF, San Diego

Smith, a wiry and explosive swingman/post, earned All Eastern League 2nd Team honors for the league champion Cavers, and posted 11.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and one block per contest.
Anthony Etheridge, 6-4 W, St. Augustine

Emerged as a starter for the Division 1 champions Saints, averaging 11 points and five rebounds per game and developing into one of the section's top young wing defenders. Finished the season scoring in double figures in five of his final seven games.
Jasen Hughes, Jr., 6-5 F, Granite Hills

The catalyst of the Eagles late-season surge, the Mt. Miguel transfer averaged 17.1 points and 6.2 rebounds after the sit-out period, leading Granite Hills to the Division 4 semifinals and earning All Grossmont Valley League 2nd Team honors.
Chase Othick, 6-1 G, Santa Fe Christian

Averaged 9.7 points per game, but saved his best for the second half of the season, averaging 11.8 points per game after Jan. 1, including 14 points per game during Coastal League play, which led to him earning All League 1st Team honors in his first season after transferring from Torrey Pines.
Justin Johnson, 6-5 W, El Camino

The wiry pogo stick averaged 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest to help the Wildcats to a third place finish in the rugged North County Coastal League, earning an All League honorable mention nod.
Kai Jones, 5-11 G, Francis Parker

Jones secured All Coastal League 2nd Team honors and played a critical role in the Lancers Open Division berth, averaging 7.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Second Team
Drew Parker, 6-4 W, St. Augustine

The Saints 6th man, who averaged 7 points and 3 rebounds per game, hit timely buckets throughout the season, none more timely than the game-winning basket against Mission Bay to clinch the outright Western League championship.
Tyler Humphrey, 6-5 W, Mt. Carmel

The All Palomar League honorable mention player averaged 11.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and has emerged as one of the top shooting wings in San Diego.
