Sophomore of the Year
Obinna Anyanwu, 6-7 PF/C, Cathedral Catholic
In his second season, Anyanwu established himself as one of the premier players in the section. The beastly forward averaged better than 17 points and 12 rebounds per game, and scored the game-winning put back in the Dons 47-46 win over Francis Parker in the D1 championship. An All-CIF First Team and All Western League First Team Selection.
First Team
Thomas Notarainni, 6-4 SG, Cathedral Catholic
One of premier wing scorers in San Diego, Notarainni averaged 19 points per game and eclipsed the 1,000-point barrier in just two years of high school hoops. He was selected to the All CIF Second Team and the All Western League First Team.
CJ McMillan, 6-5 PF, Sweetwater
The bruising-but-crafty forward led the Red Devils in scoring at 18.6 points and contributed 9.3 rebounds per game to the cause. McMillan was named to the All South Bay League First team for a second straight year.
AJ Burgin, 6-2 G, San Diego
Doubled his statistical output in Year 2, averaging 17 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6 assists per game for the CIF Division 3 champion Cavers, leading the team to back-to-back CIF titles. Was named the City League Player of Year.
Keatten Smith, 6-1 G, Santa Fe Christian
The sharpshooter was named to the All Coastal League second team after leading the team in scoring and three-point field goals in his first year getting varsity minutes.
Derrien Carter-Hollinger, 6-4 W, Foothills Christian
Emerged as a valuable glue guy for the Knights, averaging 6.6 points and 4 rebounds per game for the CIF Open Division runners up.
Cole Stephens, 6-9 C, Poway
One of the most improved players in the section, Stephens averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds per contest and was named to the All Palomar League first team.
Keavie Love, 6-2 G, El Camino
One of the best two-way guards in the section, Love was selected to his first All Avocado East First Team while leading the Wildcats in scoring.
Caleb Nelson, 6-5 PF, Carlsbad
Another of the most improved prospects and players in the class, Nelson averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds per game in Year 2, and was named to the All Avocado West Second Team.
Chris Howell, 6-6 PG, San Marcos
The quintessential Swiss Army knife-type player, Howell averaged 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists per game, and anchored San Marcos defense en route to his second all-league first team selection.

Hayden Gray, 6-1 PG, Santa Fe Christian - Led the Open Division qualifying Eagles in assists and steals.
Tyson Robinson, 5-11 PG, El Camino- All Avocado East second-team selection as a sophomore
Nikko Taylor, 6-4 W, Vista - All Avocado East second-team selection improved as the year went on.
Jessie Campbell, 6-2 G, Mater Dei Catholic- All Mesa League second-team selection emerged as a leader for the Crusaders.
Melo Sanchez, 6-4 W, Mater Dei Catholic - Was the unquestioned leader of the team before an ankle injury sidelined him the second half of league.
Trevan Martin, 6-3 G, Santa Fe Christian - Averaged double figures on the surprising Eagles squad.
DJ Sanders, 5-11 G, Bonita Vista- Was one of three sophomore starters for the Barons throughout the season, and was arguably the team's best on-ball defender.
Momo Stokes, 5-7 PG, Bonita Vista - Emerged as a major scoring threat in the Barons surprising semifinals run in Division 2.
Brendan Perry, 6-3 G, La Costa Canyon - Emerged as a starter on the Division 1 Mavericks squad and was among its leading scorers.
Kamron Beacham, 6-5 W, Oceanside - Had a huge season for the undermanned Pirates, averaging 14 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Alex Wade, 5-11 PG, Cathedral Catholic - The third of the Dons sophomore starting foursome led the team in assists (7.2) and scored 10 points per contest for the D1 champs.
Adam Nieves, 6-3 W, Orange Glen - Was named to the All Pacific League first team after leading the Patriots in scoring and rebounding.
