San Diego Boys Top 10- First Poll
With the Boys Basketball season getting underway with Army Navy and Rancho Bernardo playing games on Saturday, it is time to submit Full-Time Hoops official Top 10 poll, which will be reflected in the San Diego Union-Tribune's Top 10 poll that is released today.
FTH got to see a few more fall league games and get more information about several key teams to help us alter our initial pecking order.
1. Foothills Christian- The most dominant player in the section, TJ Leaf, begins his All-American campaign today against Great Oak.
2. St. Augustine- Cathedral may ultimately catch them with its entire complement of players, but right now, hard to bet against a Mike Haupt-coached Saints team returning almost all of its players.
3. Cathedral Catholic - Dons, once all the players are assembled, have as much talent as any team in the section. Cohesion is key.
4. Army Navy- Special frontcourt talent in Aziz Seck and Richard Polanco. Guard play must improve to take team to elite level.
5. Torrey Pines- Well-coached team stocked full of shooters, emerging big man in Jake Gilliam.
6. Mission Bay- Throttled Escondido in final of Mt. Miguel invitational. Justin Moore is one of the best players in Southern California.
7. Escondido- Imposing frontcourt of 6-9 Keegan Cummins and 6-9 Warren Washington are complemented by explosive scorer Marcus Hentley. Role players Landon Cloes, Jacob Mosowitz must develop to give team depth.
8. El Camino- Talented perimeter quartet of Sean Birk, Eric Pierce, Jalen Flanagan and Luke Arvidson. One of its sleeper bigs - Trevor McFeely or DeVante Shepherd - must emerge.
9. Parker - Tim Harrison is joined by a very underrated perimeter players in Michael Pelaiz, Andrew Cross and Jonathan Taylor.
10. San Marcos - Johnny McWilliams is back with fellow seniors Josh Ramirez and Jason Simmrin.
Honorable mention: Vista, Grossmont, Mater Dei Catholic, Kearny, San Ysidro, Rancho Bernardo, Mira Mesa, Morse, Orange Glen, La Jolla Country Day
